We're all in this together. The world is unjust, and it goes without saying that we have a long way to go. One thing that's for certain is that we need to show up for each other. We need to take care of our friends, our family, our colleagues, and total strangers because it's the right thing to do. There are a lot of messages on social media, but showing your support or your business's support doesn't have to feel intimidating. People are looking to their networks and listening for who is speaking up and taking action.
Our job is to help each other thrive and stand up for what we believe in. Black lives matter now, they mattered then, and they'll matter in the future. It's about respect, peace, and freedom for all.
Business leaders need to take action in order to make change. We are learning and listening and challenging ourselves to act and learn how we can do more. As a company we are committing to reading more and educating ourselves about racism.
On our reading list:
- Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
- Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson
- How to be an Antiracist by Ibram Kendi
We are committed to creating a supportive environment at iBec and encouraging diversity and inclusivity, and we are intentionally creating space for conversation about diversity and inclusivity at iBec through team conversations.
For more information on things that you can do as a business leader, we would encourage you to read this article from the Harvard Business Review.
What are you doing to take action in your business? Let's act together.
